Summary:

Cheap and Reliable cPanel Web Hosting with all the necessary server features.

Namecheap is a well-known domain registrar and is popular for their low-cost domain registration service. They are one of the biggest competitors for GoDaddy in domain registration service.

Namecheap does provide web hosting service too but they aren’t as popular as the other top web hosting services. Here is a review of Namecheap Shared Hosting plan. Namecheap offer various other hosting plans included Reseller Hosting, Dedicated Hosting and even VPS Hosting. Here, we will be reviewing only Shared Hosting plans provided by Namecheap.

Different Plans for Different Needs

Namecheap offers 4 different shared hosting plans. The “Value” plan, the “Professional” plan, the “Ultimate” plan and the “Business SSD” plan. We selected the “Value” plan since it offers 20GB space, Unlimited Bandwidth and allow  3 Different websites.

The prices for each web hosting plans are pretty reasonable as compared to GoDaddy economical hosting plan. The value plan costs just $9.89 (Approx Rs 600) for 1 Year. After one year, the renewal price is around $38.

You can also select between US Datacenter and UK Datacenter. The UK Datacenter costs few bucks more than the US Datacenter.

Their server supports most of the popular features such as CGI, Ruby on Rails and even SSH Access. They have the latest PHP version Installed on their server which can be switched according to your choice.

Shared Hosting Features

Namecheap shared web hosting provides cPanel with almost all the important features. PHP Version selection and PHP Configuration editor is also enabled in the shared hosting which is generally disabled by most of the top hosting providers for their cheap web hosting plans. The cPanel is also equipped with Cloudflare Menu i.e you can use Cloudflare service to optimize your website.

Along with Cloudflare, you can find few SEO management tools powered by Attracta which can be useful to increase blog traffic and can automatically submit site to Google and other search engines.

Performance and Uptime

While the Value plan supports 3 websites, we would recommend going with only two websites if they are receiving decent traffic. However, Namecheap’s server is capable enough to bear the load of three websites receiving good traffic. You may need to control the resource usage.

If you are using too many heavy plugins and add-ons on one of your site, we will recommend hosting only one site on your account. Since it’s a shared server, they have resource usage limits.

Uptime is pretty good considering the price they are charging for their hosting plans. We have been testing Namecheap server for 7 months and we haven’t experienced a downtime yet. Also, we have three of our active WordPress sites hosted on the server.

Free Domain with Shared Hosting Plan

In case you don’t have a domain, Namecheap is providing free TLDs with their shared hosting plan. You will also get a .website TLD domain name for free when you buy any shared hosting plan from Namecheap.

Excellent Technical Support

Namecheap deserves 10/10 for their Technical and customer support. While you can always create a Support Ticket for your issues, they also have a Live Chat service which is pretty good. Their customer service team is highly experienced and will  help you in detail for solving your technical issues and queries. Their Live Chat support is online for 24 hours.

Final Verdict

Considering the price they are charging for their shared hosting plans, we would recommend Namecheap Shared Hosting for all those who are looking for a cheap web hosting with reliability and good uptime.

  • I’ve been using HostGator and GoDaddy and I definitely think HostGator is superior. It’s easier to use and also for setting up WordPress. I also find that they have better customer support. I am looking for a third option for a new project and I think I might give WpWebHost a try. Thanks.

  • I have just bought bluehost US hosting for three years and installed WordPress by following your guide, I only have to add my posts and settings before it goes live. I should thank you for helping us newbies with such detailed articles, also can you please let me know with what monetising program should I go with.
