5 Things to Remember Before Accepting Guest Posts on your Blog

Guest Blogging is an excellent source of generating content for your website or a blog. The concept of Guest Posting is very simple, you allow a Guest to write an article for your website and in return, you provide them a backlink to their own website from that article published on your site. This is a win-win situation for both of the parties involved in it. The Blog owner gets a free article for his site while the Guest Writer gets a backlink and traffic to his own site through the article published on your site.

While Guest Writers are always more focused on getting a backlink to their site, it is important for the blog owner (Who is Receiving the Guest Post) to make sure that it’s actually worth to accept that particular Guest Article.

Here are few Important points which you should Remember before Accepting Guest Posts on your Blog:

Content  Quality

Always make sure that the content is well written, free from Grammatical mistakes and has a proper article structure. Don’t accept articles which are badly written or which doesn’t make any sense at all. Every Guest Post you are publishing on your blog must have at least 500 words and isn’t a duplicate content. Many Guest Authors use same content for all the different blogs, hence, you should use Copyscape to make sure that the Guest Article you have received is completely original.

Accept Only Relevant Content

It is highly recommended to make sure that the Guest Content you are publishing on your Blog is relevant to your blog’s niche. Publishing irrelevant articles will not only affect your Readership but will also affect your SEO Rankings. Do proofreading of your articles before publishing it on your website. If they aren’t related to your website’s niche or doesn’t make any sense then either ask the Guest Author to rectify or don’t accept at all.

Accept Only Relevant Links

You should be careful with the outbound links in your site. You should never Link back to a site which isn’t relevant to your niche. It is recommended to check the website of the Guest Author (which he is using in his author’s bio) and make sure that the website isn’t banned in Google, affected with Malware or is a spam blog. Don’t accept Guest Posts with links related to Casino/Gambling/Adult unless it is actually required. Make sure you link to quality websites too to make your article more natural.

Relevant Images

Apart from a well written article, it should also have relevant images. Adding relevant images in the article will not only improve the readership of your blog but also the overall quality of your blog. All the images in the articles must have related ALT tags in it. Apart from this, make sure that the images used in the Guest Posts aren’t copyrighted.

Find the Difference between Advertising and Guest Posts

Most of the Guest Authors blatantly advertise their products or services in the name of Guest Article. If the article appears more like an Advertisement than a Guest Post then either ask them to pay some money or don’t accept the article at all. Even if they are paying money, the content quality and all the above mentioned points shouldn’t be ignored.

Though Guest Posting can boost the quantity of the content on your website, you should never compromise with the quality. It’s better not to publish at all  rather than publishing a low-quality content on your site. Remember, the readership of your blog is in your hands. Every content you post on your website can be responsible for your website’s reputation.
