essential blogging investments for bloggers

If you are just a passionate blogger who loves to share the opinion and views with the public, then you never bother to take it to another level or consider monetizing it. However, if you are considering blogging as a profession and willing to dedicate all your time and skills for it, you should definitely read this article with interest. I promise you, at the end of this article, you will find that you’ve invested 5 minutes of your life at the right place.

“The first rule of any business is to be brave enough to take risks by Investing. If you have a fear of failure, you may not succeed.

Professional Blogging is just like a business, you invest some money, you dedicate your time and your hard work and then finally you get the return of investments. I have seen most of the newbie bloggers who don’t want to spend money on their blogs and want everything for free. For example, they’d rather go with nulled themes, plugins, scripts instead of buying. Along with this, they also never consider blog graphics such as logo, social banners etc as an important part of their blog. All they look for is traffic to their website.

From my experience, I’ve learnt that Professional Blogging is all about planning, investments and the proper execution all of these. Hence, if you are really expecting something big from your blog, you must treat your blog like a kid.

In this article, I will list 7 Essential Blogging Investments which every Newbie blogger should consider.

Buy a Domain Name

domain name registration

If you are still living with Blogspot or WordPress hosted blogs with subdomains like yourblog.blogspot.com or yourblog.wordpress.com, it’s high time that you should at least buy a Domain Name. The first step to professional blogging is buying a domain name for your site. Personally, I prefer .COM TLD followed by .ORG as a second preference. However, you can select according to your niche and audience. If your blog is targeted only to the Indian audience, you can also go with a .IN domain name.

For the domain name, I would suggest you to go with  GoDaddyUse GoDaddy coupon CJC99COM and get the .COM domain name for only $0.99.

Buy a Reliable Web Hosting

After buying a domain name. The next and the most important step for any blogger would be buying a  Reliable web hosting. Trust me, I would recommend to all the newbie bloggers to consider this thing as one of the most important investment. During my early days of blogging (2006-2008), I was dependent on free web hosting servers and I used to host my website on free hosting servers like 000webhost, x10hosting, byethost etc. The biggest lesson I learnt was when x10hosting suspended and deleted my account without notice just because I exceeded the resource usage. Well, the suspension didn’t hurt much but they deleted my website completely and I didn’t

The biggest lesson I learnt was when x10hosting suspended and deleted my account without notice just because I exceeded the resource usage. Well, the suspension didn’t hurt much but they deleted my website completely and I didn’t had any recent backup of my site. I lost  5 months of my website’s data which I could never recover. Since then I decided to AVOID FREE WEB HOSTS! Hence, you should go for a premium web hosting service which is reliable and fits in your budget.

I recommend,

  • BlueHost  – ( If you’ve got a decent budget. You’ll get a FREE Domain Name with every hosting plan)
  • NameCheap  – (If you’re low on budget but looking for reliable web hosting, starts $10/Year)
  • DigitalOcean – (If you have a good budget). (You’ll get free $10 Credits if you sign-up through this link)

Buy a Premium/Custom Theme

The first impression is the last impression and it’s defined by the website’s appearance. Don’t you want your website to stand out from the competitors? Big bloggers and news portals spend a lot of money for their website’s appearance. If you want your blog to be unique then you must buy a premium theme or get it developed by a theme developer, especially for your website.

For premium themes, I’d recommend

Get a Professional Logo

professional logo

The Logo of a website defines its identity. A website without a logo is just like an Actor with his face covered. A logo should be professional and catchy enough to attract the visitors. If you’ve got great photoshop skills then you can design a logo yourself. If you’re not good in designing then you can hire a professional logo designer for as low as $5. There are a lot of people on Fiverr who can design a professional logo for your website for just $5.

  • Go to Fiverr and search for Logo Designing Gigs.

Grammarly – The Best Tool for Writing Flawless Articles

Grammarly is a Free Grammar Checking tool and in fact the best grammar checking tool available for writers or bloggers. It helps you is proofreading and writing articles without grammar and spelling mistakes. Grammarly is Free but you can also buy their premium subscription which allows you to check grammar issues in detail. Grammarly is available as a browser extension too for Chrome and Firefox.

Invest in Premium Plugins

To add more and more functionality on your website if you ever feel that there’s a need for a premium plugin, go for it! On CultBlogger, I’m using BizPanda Social Locker Premium, ThirstyAffiliates Premium and Yoast SEO Premium plugin. The Social Locker plugin has been one of my best investments ever and for just $25.

Few WordPress premium plugin suggestions for newbie bloggers:

Hire Content Writers

If you’re still left with some money to invest on your blog, you can hire some good content writers. Hiring content writers will not only help you in adding more content to your site but would also help you in saving your time and reducing the workload. You should select only quality writers for your blog. Some content writers may work at low prices but I’d recommend you not to compromise with the quality of the content for your site. You can get experienced content writers for your niche as low as Rs 200 per 500 words article. It may vary according to their writing skills and content research skills.

Additional Investment: Facebook Advertising

Although I don’t recommend Facebook Advertising for newbie bloggers, I still consider it as a valuable investment. Facebook Advertising will help you in building your social media followers and improving your social media presence.  Along with this, it can help you in getting targeted visitors to your site which may eventually help you in increasing your affiliate sales.

Final Words

These were few suggestions for the newbie bloggers or in fact, the essential investments for any blogger. I’ve written this post considering the problems I’ve faced during my early blogging days and how such investments helped me to grow.
